Our Curriculum has been designed on eight elements we believe set the foundation for your child’s Educational future. These programs are designed to maximise your child’s opportunities and expose them to various experiences in preparation for each individual milestone, from nursery to pre-kindy and then primary schooling.
Our Programs below outline an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education which values the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. Every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand their world and their place within it.
Within our STEM education program children will approach learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to implement playful, inquiry-based experiences. Our Trained Educators encourage engagement with the activities to construct knowledge within young children.
Our children will have opportunities to experiments with different
resources to explore further into STEM concepts such as but not limited to gravity, electricity, sound, water and much much more.
Living sustainable means living within the capacity of the natural
environment to support life and ensuring our current lifestyle has minimal impact on generations to come. Our children will learn about the impact that we have on the earth, and what we leave for future generations. We know that sustainability can encompass a number of things, from recycling to gardening, and in being resourceful with products and items that we use. We can teach these to our children through hands-on activities and by involving them in embedding sustainable practices within our services.
The Arts is a learning area that draws together related but distinct art forms. Through this program our children will explore a variety of art forms which have close relationships and are often used in interrelated ways. Arts celebrate and contribute to personal and community well-being. They are powerful forms of personal, social, and cultural expression. Our children will have the opportunities to be exposed to Music, Drama, Visual Arts and Dance which reflect distinct bodies of knowledge, understanding and skills.
Through this program we aim to educate children about health and fitness. We aim to embed healthy lifestyle choices from a young age and achieve this through regular activities such as yoga, martial arts, dance, munch and move and healthy meal cooking experiences. This allows for promotion of healthy growth and development and strong muscles and bones. Improved physical fitness, including coordination and movement skills. Reduced risk of disease and unhealthy weight gain.
Through this program the children will look further into the beauty of each Nation and explore their peers culture and heritage.
The children will participate in a 26 week French program and will then look at exploring other languages of the world through their educators own cultures. Children will be exposed to diverse music, food, dress and traditions through celebrations such as Diwali and Chinese new year. Exposure to the world allows children to understand one another and how much we have in common.
Within this program children will have opportunities to meet and
understand the roles of our local community services through visits to our services such as the police and fire department.
Children will also participate in a range of community events such as clean up Australia Day and NAIDOC week. We aim to educate the children about the community in which they belong to and provide them with opportunities to explore it….
Urban Kindy will provide our children with the time in the outdoor
environment for them to learn in. Children will have uninterrupted play in the park, using what nature has provided as learning materials. Urban Kindy will be a valuable part of our Pre-Kindy children’s total experience at Jenny’s Kindergarten. In the natural environment, the children will be free to explore and play with virtually no boundaries, enabling our children to connect through play with the space and their land in a way that cannot be done under a roof or within walls.
Going to “Big School” is a milestone for your child and yourself. School readiness refers to whether a child is ready to make an easy and successful transition into school. The development of school readiness skills allows school teachers to expand and further develop a child’s skills in the specific areas of social interaction, play, language, emotional development, physical skills, literacy
and fine motor skills.
Our Early Childhood Teachers will use a structured term based planned curriculum to prepare the children with these fundamental skills. Our teachers will use the Jolly Phonics Program along with other concepts including library hubs, school visits and classroom settings allowing children opportunities to experiment with uniforms and lunch boxes.
Our Prep program discusses starting school in a positive manner that will reinforce a healthy attitude towards the transition. This is not only about structured school work, we also concentrate on developing self-help and social skills to improve the children’s confidence and interactions with others.
