Curriculum

The Curriculum has been designed on eight elements we believe set the foundation for your child’s Educational future. These programs are designed to maximise your child’s opportunities and expose them to various experiences in preparation for each individual milestone, from nursery to pre-kindy and then primary schooling.

The Programs below outline an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education which values the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. Every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand their world and their place within it.

Enviro Club

Enviro Club

Living sustainable means living within the capacity of the natural environment to support life and ensuring our current lifestyle has minimal impact on generations to come. All children learn about the impact that we have on the earth, and what we leave for future generations. We know that sustainability can encompass a number of things, from recycling to gardening, and in being resourceful with products and items that we use. We can teach these to the children through hands-on activities and by involving them in embedding sustainable practices within the services.
The Arts

The Arts

The Arts is a learning area that draws together related but distinct art forms. Through this program the children will explore a variety of art forms which have close relationships and are often used in interrelated ways. Arts celebrate and contribute to personal and community well-being. They are powerful forms of personal, social, and cultural expression. All children will have the opportunities to be exposed to Music, Drama, Visual Arts and Dance which reflect distinct bodies of knowledge, understanding and skills.
Mind | Body | Soul

Mind | Body | Soul

Through this program the aim is to educate children about health and fitness. Jenny's aim is to embed healthy lifestyle choices from a young age and achieve this through regular activities such as yoga, martial arts, dance, munch and move and healthy meal cooking experiences. This allows for promotion of healthy growth and development and strong muscles and bones. Improved physical fitness, including coordination and movement skills. Reduced risk of disease and unhealthy weight gain.
World Travelers

World Travelers

Through this program the children will look further into the beauty of each Nation and explore their peers culture and heritage. The children will participate in a 26 week Spanish program and will then look at exploring other languages of the world through their educators own cultures. Children will be exposed to diverse music, food, dress and traditions through celebrations such as Diwali and Chinese new year. Exposure to the world allows children to understand one another and how much we have in common.
Community Links

Community Links

Jenny's aim is to educate the children about the community in which they belong to and provide them with opportunities to explore it….
Urban Kindy

Urban Kindy

Urban Kindy will provide the children with the time in the outdoor environment for them to learn in. Children will have uninterrupted play in the park, using what nature has provided as learning materials. Urban Kindy will be a valuable part of the Pre-Kindy children’s total experience at Jenny’s Kindergarten. In the natural environment, the children will be free to explore and play with virtually no boundaries, enabling all children to connect through play with the space and their land in a way that cannot be done under a roof or within walls.
JK Prep

JK Prep

Going to “Big School” is a milestone for your child and yourself. School readiness refers to whether a child is ready to make an easy and successful transition into school. The development of school readiness skills allows school teachers to expand and further develop a child’s skills in the specific areas of social interaction, play, language, emotional development, physical skills, literacy and fine motor skills.

What to Expect from Childcare & Early Learning Centers?

As a parent, it’s understandable to want the absolute best care and education for your child at any age. With that in mind, there are a few things you should expect from childcare and early learning centers.

First and foremost, you should expect that your child is in a safe, stable, and caring environment. We understand that leaving your child anywhere for the day while you work can be nerve-racking, especially at such a young age. Safety is paramount when it comes to these centers, which is why we provide constant attention and individualized care. At Jenny’s, all of our centers are fitting with CCTV surveillance cameras, and we utilize entry systems with a PIN/intercom to make sure we know who is coming and going.

Additionally, parents can use a personalised JK app to check in on their child throughout the day by getting live information. No parent should be ‘left in the dark’ when their child is away, which is why we work to provide as much live information as possible.

Safety goes hand-in-hand with the facilities, themselves. At Jenny’s Kindergarten, we pride ourselves on our state-of-the-art facilities across a number of suburbs in Sydney. Our facilities are purpose-built. What does that mean? We’ve created our spaces with our mission in mind, to establish the right environments for the children we work with. That includes things like:

Safe outdoor spaces that encourage learning and development
Spacious rooms with natural light
Purpose-built kitchen to provide high-quality nutrition throughout the day

A Learning Environment that Grows With Your Child

Because Jenny’s Kindergarten offers both childcare and early learning services, it’s important to know how children transition from one to the other and what the differences are. Child care centers typically attend to the basic needs of babies, infants, and toddlers. This includes everything from taking care of basic needs to teaching motor skills, communication, and more. Children this age obviously have a different learning style, but they can, indeed, learn.

As children get older and become toddler/pre-kindy age, the learning environment changes, and we adapt to that at Jenny’s by teaching them in a variety of different ways. We have learning goals for all ages, including:
  • Creating a learning environment that addresses the needs of every child
  • Promoting the exploration of natural resources
  • Observe, develop, and record each child’s learning process
In addition to learning goals, we also have teaching goals that include open communication with our enrolled children to help foster their individual learning style, as well as extending their thinking and encouraging a desire to learn. When children develop that desire at a young age, they can quickly become life-long learners and have a thirst for knowledge as they grow up.

What to Expect from the Curriculum

Living sustainable means living within the capacity of the natural environment to support life and ensuring our current lifestyle has minimal impact on generations to come. All children learn about the impact that we have on the earth, and what we leave for future generations. We know that sustainability can encompass a number of things, from recycling to gardening, and in being resourceful with products and items that we use. We can teach these to the children through hands-on activities and by involving them in embedding sustainable practices within the services.

What to Expect from the Curriculum

The curriculum used at our child care center has been designed to expose your child to different milestones in their educational journey, from nursery to pre-kindy, and primary schooling. Children are innately curious and have a desire to know more. Our curriculum capitalizes on that and fosters an even greater interest to learn more about our world and what their place in it truly is.

So, what do our early learning centers provide when it comes to the curriculum? We have several programs to pull from on a daily basis. These include:

  • S.T.E.M. Education - A learning approach that focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math. We cover subjects like gravity, electricity, sound, and water to foster an interest in children about how the world works.
  • Enviro Club - Now, more than ever, it’s important for the next generation to learn about the environment and what they can do to protect it. From recycling to gardening, the enviro club focuses on the importance of sustainability.
  • Arts - All of our children are exposed to artistic opportunities in music, drama, visual arts, and dance. The arts promote creativity, personal understanding, and community well-being.
  • Mind/Body/Soul - Teaching the importance of health and fitness at an early age is often necessary to encourage lifelong healthy habits.
  • World Travelers - Our early learning children will discover a “whole new world” to explore beyond their own backyard. We will look further into the natural beauty of each nation and different cultures. Students will also participate in a 26-week Spanish program, followed by exploring other world languages.
  • Community Links - We believe education goes beyond the classroom. That’s why our children have the opportunities to understand specific roles within a community. They also participate in community events to help them understand what it means to be a part of a thriving, working community and how to keep it running.
  • Urban Kindy - It’s important for children to have some time of uninterrupted, boundary-free play, and that’s exactly what they get from the Urban Kindy experience. We spend time outdoors with our Pre-Kindy kids, using what nature has given us as learning materials.

All of our early childhood teachers use a structured term-based program designed to promote early learning in Sydney with fundamental skills. Our teachers use the Jolly Phonics Program and prepare our pre-kindy kids for school by going on visits to classroom settings, learning about library hubs, and even experimenting with lunch boxes and uniforms. It’s not about just sitting down to structure schoolwork. Instead, it’s about building confidence and developing the skills needed to transition easily to the next educational phase of life.

As our early learning children grow, we will also start to prepare them for “big school” using our JK Prep program. This allows them to further develop their skills when it comes to everything from social interaction to physical skills, and even literacy development. By the time children reach kindergarten, they can be well-versed in a variety of different subjects, have strong social skills, and be more self-sufficient.

Teaching Methods

All Jenny's Early Childhood Teachers use a structured term based planned curriculum to prepare the children with these fundamental skills. All teachers use the Jolly Phonics Program along with other concepts including library hubs, school visits and classroom settings allowing children opportunities to experiment with uniforms and lunch boxes.

The Prep program discusses starting school in a positive manner that will reinforce a healthy attitude towards the transition. This is not only about structured school work, they also concentrate on developing self-help and social skills to improve the children’s confidence and interactions with others.
