This week has seen us further embed our teaching and learning on Aboriginal culture. We commenced some deeper thinking about the original custodians of our country during reconciliation week and have continued our investigations since this point.

The Prekindy children contacted our Federal member Mr Andre Gee to request the 3 recognised flags of Australia. Today Mr Gee visited our centre to present us with the flags of Australia, Torres Strait Islands and the Aboriginal flag. We look forward to implementing a Reconciliation Action Plan in order to help develop and build relationships within our local Bathurst community and the wider Australian community.

In spite of the rather chilly Bathurst weather we have been heading out to  “Annie’s Ice-cream” every day this week. There was a huge interest in our Turtle room that stemmed from a dramatic play of Ice cream shops. Annie’s Ice-cream is a local tradition and source of joy for many families so it was a great opportunity to accompany the children somewhere they loved and become a part of their “outside care” lives.
